The Best Cocktails to Make This Fall

Fall has finally arrived, and with the season come cozy sweaters, rainy days, and delicious food. Although having wine and beer at the table is very traditional with the holidays, changing things up with a flavorful cocktail will surprise and impress your guests. Apple pie, cranberry, thyme, cinnamon, and spiced pear mixed with your favorite liquors end up as a deliciously-seasonal beverage. These are my three favorite cocktails that will make the perfect pair to your Thanksgiving and fall-inspired meals. Not only are these recipes (seriously!) easy to make, they are beautifully presented and filled with fall flavors.

Carter Cocktail Shaker ($24.95); Martin Cocktail Glass ($14.95); Jigger ($9.95)

  • Apple cider (4 oz.)
  • Vodka (4 oz.) You can use apple pie vodka for a sweeter taste
  • Ginger beer (1 bottle)
  • Cinnamon sticks and apple slices for garnish

  • Fill the copper mugs with ice
  • In a cocktail shaker, add the vodka and apple cider and mix
  • Pour the mixture into the mug
  • Fill the mug off with ginger beer
  • Add the garnishes
  • Enjoy!

Wine Glass (Pottery Barn)

  • Fresh cranberries (3/4 cup)
  • White granulated sugar (1/4 cup)
  • Water (1/2 cup)
  • Splash of orange juice
  • Thyme leaves
  • Vanilla extract (1 tsp.)
  • Gin of choice
  • Tonic of choice

To make the syrup:

  • Mix together the cranberries, sugar, water, orange juice, thyme, and vanilla extract. I cooked this in medium-low heat and it only took a couple minutes until the cranberries began to soften. Smash the cranberries with your spoon and then pour the mixture through a strainer to only capture the syrup.

To put together:

  • Add 1 ounce of the syrup to the glass and add a few ice cubes. Pour in 2 ounces of gin and top it off with tonic.

(In order from front to back: Spiced Pear, Cranberry Thyme, and Apple Pie)

  • Pear juice (1 cup)
  • Sugar (1 cup)
  • Cinnamon stick (1)
  • Nutmeg (1/4 tsp.)
  • Pear (1)
  • Ginger beer (1 cup)
  • Lime (1)
  • Sliced pear for garnish

To make the syrup:

  • Place the pear just and sugar into a pot and boil under medium heat.
  • Add cinnamon stick, nutmeg, and pear. Mix well.
  • Drain the liquid separating the chunks and allow the syrup to cool

To put together:

  • Fill mug with ice
  • Place 2 ounces of the syrup and 2 ounces of the vodka into a cocktail shaker
  • Pour into the mug and top it off with ginger beer
  • Squeeze lime
  • Garnish with cinnamon stick and pear

I hope you enjoyed these recipes and tried them out yourselves.
